re: How To Google-ify Your iPhone

"I'm an iPhone owner so read on b4 you dismiss.

Apple doesn't want to provide me with the luxury of choice or flexibility when it comes to my contact management and many other subjects, media, web browsing, etc. It's a great phone but the corporate attitude is clearly not in favor of empowering consumers anymore. This is further pointed out by the app store in Lion. I would hate to give up my Macbook love if Lion is the sign of things to come.

This article succeeds in pointing out how half assed the Google experience is on iOS. Apple shouldn't fight Google on these issues and view them as direct competitors to their platform. This is MSFT and IE antitrust issues all over again.

The question is- do I hang in there and pray or trust that Jobs knows best for me, and everyone? or do I switch and commit to a more open platform that isn't trying to push a ideological/philosophical/ agenda? Is that platform mature enough and will it meet my needs? I think it will from what I've seen and played with?
These devices are supposed to provide an experience that empowers us people. Stop worshiping those who give us bare minimum and aim for the floor and praise those who are pushing for progress, innovation and perhaps more importantly, freedom, options, choices. Etc.

So close to switching. But I am open. Fellow iPhone lovers, please convince me, why should I hang on?"

Well Said! is my way of bringing to you the very savvy, prescient, intuitive, ingenius, or otherwise noteworthy remarks by random brainiacs I've stumbled across in my web journeys.
